Is Liphook prepared to protect our elderly people this coming week?
- paul (11th Dec 2022 19:40:56)
Hi,
With sub-zero temperatures this coming week are there any "Warm Centres" to attend? Our village with some residents that cannot afford heat their homes
Where can we help our elderly, and neighbours this Winter?

If we built more nuclear power plants and allowed drilling of our north sea gas fields, but no we want windmills, there is no Plan B, maybe one day wind will heat our homes but not for now, oh dear, the upper middle classes are gluing themselves to motorways, we must listen!

But Paul, shouldn’t everyone stay in after your recent warnings about the resurgence of Covid!

Very good point Paul but have you been out and seen what goes on in liphook, the day centre volunteers collect and take back people that can’t get there on their own.
The support laundry volunteers collect and deliver laundry for people that have problems with washing.
Voluntary care take people to hospital’s doctors etc liphook has a marvellous array of wonderful helpers and they all look out for any problems we are so lucky in liphook.

I agree the day centre is great but there is a meal provided so you cannot go in all day there to avoid paying bills at home. They are a charity after all, and not open 7 days a week. I am not up to date with the current cost to attend but they pay staff as well! I believe Gill at the Millennium Hall kindly makes home made soup on a Friday and it is available to all at 3.50 a bowl and tea and coffee at a reasonable cost. Perhaps Paul you could offer your services in the voluntary sector helping the elderly it would be appreciated I am sure.
