Ah yes the mysterious Liphook Hum!
99% certain will be EMF Mains Hum, worth googling it, as more and more things go electric it's all around us, even at night people running power they never used to, neighbours cars being charged, phones etc. Maybe older overworked communal mains power cables running near your home?
Most experts reckon it must be harmless but others aren't so sure as our bodies and brains are basically electro magnetic circuits in a 90% liquid solution, so we ought to be highly sensitive and finely balanced conductors of EMF, also worth noting some people's hearing is attuned more to low vibrations, others high, this also changes at various times in people's lives just to complicate matters so not everybody will hear it at the same time!
Not a lot we can do about increasing EMF but worth checking inside your own home for electrics left on or charging, sometimes a faulty or badly insulated wire or transformer perhaps, if none of that helps consult an exorcist, many have searched but no-one has yet conclusively identified the source of the mysterious Liphook Hum!

It is far further afield than Liphook, we have had it in Headley Down for over a decade, as suggested search previous postings.

Yes it sounded like a compressor up at gunns farm it went all night and went off around 8am.awful noise
