Local Clay Deposits for Pottery - Joshua (24th Apr 2022 19:14:53)
Hi,
I recently wanted to try makings some ceramics from our local clay.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any particularly clay-y spots that would be amenable to me pinching a bucket or two.
As well I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge in general around historical pottery creation in the area?
Cheers!

There was a local pottery set up in the Arts and Crafts era by 2 men based in Hammer Vale probably on the former brickwork site. It was not very successful I believe. One of the owners left to become one of the first founders of Poole pottery. There are a few examples I think in the Haslemere museum. If you Google Hammer Vale pottery info will come up. There is also Elton Ware, which I believe was made in Farnham.
