Reddish Brown powder on windows

Hi, bit of an odd one this, has anyone else recently noticed a slight reddish brown residue on their windows, garden furniture etc, it shows up particularly on white window sills, I think it came down in the storms or later, the recent heavy rains, any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks, it really just goes to show how interconnected we all are on this little planet, I appreciate their warm weather very much, but a bit less so their sand!
